The Nightmare Cometh...

The world writhes and transforms beneath its gaze. Men become bloodthirsty monsters and visitors scattered across the shadows seek our downfall. Beasts turn on each other, and the old threats yet lurk. The machines churn, the moon phase changes this way and that. It's enough to drive one mad.

And to protect the scattered settlements of this dying world, there are HUNTERS who run along the knife's edge of danger. Will they protect humanity, unworthy though it is? Or will they change and destroy themselves, becoming hideous HORRORS that prey upon men?

WELCOME TO HUNTERS & HORRORS!

A tabletop roleplaying game that combines the moods of Gothic Horror, Fantasy and Cosmic Horror! In this game, 3-5 players take on the roles of Hunters that fight monsters and plumb the depths of this twisted world. One player is called the Dealer, and adjudicates the story and all characters within.

Hunters & Horrors is a unique game focused primarily on its intuitive yet highly strategic combat. With proper planning along the Wheel of Strife, a player can dash and dart through danger, never taking damage. Skill is everything in this game, as all results in combat are foreseen, you simply have to make the best use of them.

This is not yet its final form!

As you can see, there still remains a bit of work to be done! Improved formatting, splash art, an example adventure and more monsters to fight are in the works! I'll be improving as I go along, and I hope you'll continue to support me! The game will remain PWYW until it's ready to be released in its best format!

Very fresh new design of combat system which is nowhere to find in other TRPG rules, have not yet tried it, but I do wanna praise the work put into it!

Hello, I had a few questions about the new rules.

How would I determine how much AP an NPC has?

Also on page 39 it says there are four subtypes, but only three are listed

Oops! You got me on the last part, I really need proofreaders. As for AP, all NPCs have 3 AP, generally speaking. I should have made that explicit. If you want to add more, you can just consider the level of experience you want the hunter to have (as only Hunters would be able to be so strong) and say this:

3 AP - Human Ability

4 AP - Peak Human Ability

5 AP - Superhuman Ability

HOWEVER, I would suggest keeping them at 3 AP unless its necessary to put them on equal footing with player hunters. Best to not let NPCs steal the players' thunder.

Thank you that makes sense,

Are monsters also meant to have 3 AP?

Yep! That's the idea. It might seem a little stacked in player favor, but usually monster abilities will make up for it.

that does clear it up, thank you very much for your help
